Equinox: The Harmony between Meaning and Mundanity; 3 Part Series (Teaser)

Lately I’ve been thinking about purpose and what means in light of being Orthodox.

What does it mean to “find your purpose”?

Can one find a purpose here on earth?

Are we ‘called’ to something higher?

And yet while I ponder these questions, I also cannot help but notice that these thoughts are the fruits of the grueling yet fertile ground that we call mundanity.

Is there a place in our lives for the mundane?

Is the hamster wheel that we call ‘work’ a secret breeding ground for holiness?

Is God calling us to live deeper than the conventional idea of living which we western post-modern creatures seem to cling to so fervently?

If any of these questions hit close to home for you, then I pray this series will serve as a helping guide along your path. Like many other ‘young enough to not know but old enough to know better’ type of people, I find myself haunted by these questions. Currently, with so many new and wonderful factors appearing in my life as addressed in my last article, I’ve had to think deeply about what kind of life I want to lead.

In Equinox, I’ll be expanding on these questions, ideas, and concepts while providing anecdotes of my own journey toward seeking the will of God. This journey will be divided into three articles which will include topics like meaning, mundanity, and how to seek the noble path between the two.

Let’s try to figure this out together, friends.

Stay tuned.
